There are those who say Antistatic wrist straps or procedures are unnecessary, because they never had a problem during or after working on equipment, without using antistatic procedures. The problem here is static discharge doesn't necessarily cause immediate failure. Which can lead to some to believe that handling and working on equip without antistatic procedures is Ok and not harmful. Damage can show up hours, days, weeks, months or even years after exposure to static discharge. The discharge weakens the device and shortens its useful life and in some cases causes immediate failure. If you want your equipment, such as a computer, to last as long as possible forget about discussion. We suggest that you use all Antistatic procedures available to you.
